Our Story

More than a market.
A community cornerstone.

For over 15 years, Bassett Farmers Market has been the heartbeat of local food in Patrick County. What started as a handful of neighbors selling surplus garden produce has grown into a weekly gathering that brings together farmers, artisans, and families from across Southwest Virginia.

Every item on our stalls comes from within a 50-mile radius. When you buy from us, you're not just getting fresh food — you're investing in the people who work the land, preserve traditions, and keep Bassett's agricultural heritage alive.

Our offerings change with the seasons. Here's what you can typically find at each market day.

Seasonal Vegetables

Tomatoes, peppers, squash, corn, green beans, leafy greens, and root vegetables — all grown within the region and picked the same day you buy them.

Orchard Fruits

Apples, peaches, berries, figs, and grapes from nearby orchards. Each variety is selected for flavor, not shelf life — that's the difference you taste.

Herbs & Specialty Plants

Basil, rosemary, thyme, mint, and more. Also available: starter plants for your garden, flowering perennials, and houseplants from local growers.

Honey & Preserves

Raw wildflower honey, jams, jellies, and cordials from local beekeepers and kitchen artisans. Each jar tells the story of its region.

Eggs & Dairy

Pasture-raised eggs, fresh goat milk, artisan cheeses, and seasonal dairy from small-scale local producers who prioritize animal welfare and soil health.

Artisan & Handcrafted Goods

Woodwork, candles, woven goods, pottery, and other handcrafted items from local makers. Every piece is made right here in Southwest Virginia.
